Automated tightness testing of car fuel tanks with usage of MultiCUD
Companies making cars often require automated fuel tank tightness testing, at production level. Fuel tank has compressed air inside and is tested under water. Fuel tank is being shaked under water to realise air bubbles from tank surface. Only than testing is possible. Testing basis on ultrasonic penetration of water surface above the tank. The object is to detect any air bubble that comes from the tank.
Ultrasonic device must observe whole surface where air bubble can occour. In case of detection some air buuble alarm should be initiated. To be sure that any air bubble won't go through without notice, some conditions must be fulfiled:
ultrasonic probes must assure full ultrasonic coverage of surface above the tank,
ultrasonic probes must work parallel,
device sensitivity must assure 100 % detection of a single air buuble,
device must assure non causing false alarms.
